Sharepoint is Microsoft’s content management system also called a web-based intranet. From a technical perspective, there are Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS), Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server (MOSS) and Microsoft Search Server and each build upon each other.

Access Services
There are a few new access features available when you deploy Access Services in Sharepoint 2016. Support apps with add-ins are available for office. Integrating data from outside services in your Access app is made easier with an app. Examples include reading stock prices. Office apps will also allow you to display data in your Access app such as in a chart, a map or a graph.
Customized Web Parts
With Web parts you can modify the content, appearance, and behavior of pages of a SharePoint site by using a browser. They are server-side controls that run inside a web part page. In other words, they are the elementary unit of pages that appear on a SharePoint site. The time it takes to compile for customized XSLT files used for Content Query, Table of Contents and Summary Links Web Parts is improved.
Identify and Search for Sensitive Content
SharePoint Server 2016 can now provide the same data loss prevention competence as Office 365. You can leverage 51 built-in sensitive information types such as credit cards, passport number, Social Security numbers and more. You can also use DLP queries to discover sensitive content related to common industry regulations from the Sharepoint eDiscovery Center. This will give you the ability to identify offending documents and also export a report.
MinRole
A new feature that allows a SharePoint farm administrator to denote each server’s role in a farm topology. Sharepoint optimizes the performance on of the farm based on that topology by automatically configuring the services on each server (based on the server role). There are six server roles available:
I. Front-end: optimized (for low latency) services, service applications and component that serve user requests.
II. Application: optimized (for high throughput) services, service applications and components that serve back-end requests. Requests include: background jobs or search crawl requests.
III. Distributed Cache: services, service applications and components required for a distributed cache.
IV. Search: services, service applications and components required for search,
V. Custom: Services, custom service applications and components that do not integrate with MinRole.The farm administrator fully controls which service instances can run on servers assigned.
VI. Single-Server Farm: Services, server application services, and components required for a single-machine farm. Singe-Server Farm replaces the Standalone install mode previously available in Sharepoint server releases. It is meant for development, testing, and very limited production use. There cannot be more than one SharePoint server in the farm.
